'The News from Lake Wobegon'

The leaves hit their peak of fall colors. It was like walking through a scene in a tapestry. It all passed by Friday. Florian and Myrtle drove out to see the colors. They don't enjoy the drive any more. Myrtle has a headache and Florian hates to put mileage on his old 1966 Chevrolet. Florian took a gas-soaked gas and wiped his engine. Ranger Steve crone to the 3rd Grade class and brought his box of snakes. He explained that snakes are not harmful. A snake got down the front of his jump suit and crone out his pant leg. He got slightly hysterical. Some of the boys did an act of Ranger Steve. One of the girls drove her bike to the woods looking for snakes to scare her brothers. She saw her little brother and tried to scare him by running her bike at him. He decided not to cry, took a step toward her and hauled off and kicked her. More happened after that. Mother crone out to sort things out. These are Florian and Myrtle Krepsbach's ยท grandchildren. Eloise Krepsbach married Chuck Best. After the three children, he said that he was leaving her. She threw him out and would not let him in the house to get his clothes and car keys. All of the neighbors listened to their exchange. Then she shouted after him, 'You are a lousy lover!" After that, she had to go back to LW and live as a divorced mother. Myrtle said that she was the first person in the family to get a welfare check. Eloise is taking job training. She placed an ad in the Herald Star offering dance instruction. Ella Anderson called her up to see if it would help her arthritis. Ella is having a hard time trying to take care of herself and Henry. They put "Blue Skirt Waltz on the turntable.
