'The News from Lake Wobegon'

It rained on the Tuesday after Labor Day, the first day of school. Lyle looked at his leaking roof from the attic. He hates to call Carl because his wife calls Carl whenever there's a problem. Lyle's house was built in 1889 by a carpenter. He, his son, and three spinster daughters lived in the house. He died and the daughters lived there for years. The will stated that the house was to be tom down when the last daughter died. Victor, the nephew, came to town to claim his inheritance. He had 60 days to tear down the house and take his $40,000 inheritance. The city council found an old ordinance that gave him 14 days. With only one day left, Victor and his lawyer couldn't tear down the house in time. The library sold the house to Lyle. The house has problems and three ghosts. Lyle had to fill in for the English teacher. The students gave 3-minute speeches. His daughter gave a speech about family. A voice inside Lyle's head said, "Fix your roof".
