'The News from Lake Wobegon'

The furnace failed at the L W Herald Star. The pipes froze and burst and there was ice all over the floor. It will take Carl Krepsbach three days to get the part to fix it. Harold Starr had a tooth pulled and sprained his ankle. Then he hit his closed garage door. He wrote a blistering editorial but everyone in LW understood. His news reporting is usually very mild because more than half of his subscribers are exiles from LW and they don't want anything to ever change. He did not report the ruckus when Bud dynamited a grave or the wild school board meeting over teaching French at LWHS. He did not print the 95 Accusations of LW that the Snesling boy wrote when he left town. He nailed them to the door of the Lutheran Church.
