'The News from Lake Wobegon'

Carl Krepsbach fixed the roof at Bunsen Motors. Business was very slow. Clarence read the car dealer's magazine. At 10, he went to the Chatterbox and stayed for lunch. There were no calls for him when he got back. At 2, he decided to go for a walk. Clarence, a Lutheran, asked Fr. Emil for a second opinion over why he thinks about death all of the time. Fr. Emil told him he didn't look too good. He climbed up on the hill in the woods where he used to play as a boy. He heard kids whispering in the woods. He climbed an old tree with sticks nailed to it The kids under the tree included his grand nephew, Randy. He jumped and yelled, 'Hah!' Then he said, 'Oh!' He told the boys to go and tell Mrs. Bunsen to get the car and pick him up. Now, he feels better and whenever he thinks about death, he just puts weight on the sprained ankle.
