'The News from Lake Wobegon'

The trees have lost their leaves. Time to get a good windshield scraper. Winter brings us back to basics like food and heat and story telling. 11-year old GK feared Darryl Rasmussen and cougars. They became friends and 13-year old Darryl led GK into many episodes. Once they went out on the NP trestle. When they were in the middle, they saw the headlights of the xxx . They reached a safety island just before it passed. The Rasmussens came from Millet, where they ran the town dump with an auto junkyard called "Death Row." Pete, the German Shepherd, guarded the dump. High school boys would sit in one of the wrecked cars on Death Row on Halloween night. Five 17-year old boys were sitting in the back seat of the "Prom Plymouth". At midnight, GK and Darryl turned on power to the headlights of 20 cars facing Death Row. A radio played one of the car. A car started and ran towards them. The boys screamed and ran away. Afterwards the light went out and they swear they saw two ghosts in prom clothes.
