'The News from Lake Wobegon'

It has been a depressing week because the weather has been so nice. People had barely put away their warm clothes when the weather was in the 80s. They had forgotten how to complain about hot weather. There is no such thing as good weather, just good conversational weather. Hawaii is a paradise. What if you went there and you still weren't happy? After imagining April all winter long, it's not that great. A two-note bird was flying around town but the second note was slightly flat. The robins are back. The missus is doing all of the work and the old guy is hauling in all of this trash. It rained in the middle of the week. She used the mud to finish the nest. The robin dad looks worried. There aren't many earthworms in the lawn and there will be a huge apple hanging right over the nest if the kids are slow learners. The fields dried out and everybody got out and finished planting. Roger Hedlund finished planting his com without getting stuck in the low spot and amusing his neighbors. The mice built a nest in the seat of his tractor. A mouse panicked and ran up his pant leg. You can grab the mouse, or whack at it, or let it go as high as it wants. Roger was wearing roomy coveralls. Roger lost control of the John Deere tractor and the corn planter. He tore across the flower bed down into the ditch and up the other side and across the road. Roger waved at Florian Krepsbach as he drove by. Florian thought that it looked wild. When Roger arrived at the Sidetrack, Wally asked him about it. Roger asked for a shot of beer, drank it, and walked out. ----

Spring has truly arrived. In 6th grade, GK practiced social graces talking to coats in the cloak room. Latin is rapidly becoming MN's second language. GK tells what will happen to CBS-TV, now that he owns it. The results from last week's contest for new fall programs for CBS-TV.
