A fresh batch of snow brightened things up. Myrtle Krebsbach donated a new batch of Xavier Cugat records to the skating rink. People were doing rumbas. Old geezers become graceful when they strap on their figure skates. Pastor Inkvuist was sick as a dog with a virus but he didn't have any symptoms. A man on the radio described his virus and said that it hung on for three years. He was depressed because he and Judy were not going to the five-day Rural Lutheran Clergy Conference in Orlando. It had been approved by the Board of Deacons in November by a narrow vote. Val Tollefsen and the older deacons complained about the $1200 expense. They think that David is too liberal and soft on Catholicism. He had heard about little else but the trip to Orlando from the parishioners. At the board meeting on Monday night, Val talked about trimming the budget to do more for the starving people world wide. David mentioned his vacation and the next thing he knew the trip was canceled the day before they were scheduled to leave. Judy had planned out what they would do on their free afternoons. After the kids had left for school, she landed on him about noble sacrifices on behalf of both of them. After supper on Tuesday night, they were talking in terse sentences when Father Emil came to visit. He mentioned that he heard they'd been snookered out of the trip to Orlando. He gave David a bottle of fine French cognac. Clarence Bunsen had given it to Father Emil when he came for a second opinion. Wednesday morning, Val Tollefsen called suggesting that they go for two days. David said 'No' as looked across at Judy who smiled at him and said that she loved him.
Shy pride week. The video story of Millard Fillmore. RB and GK read their poem about snow. RB talks about 'How to sweat.' Elvis Presley's 50th anniversary. Roy Blount's song of the cat.
