'The News from Lake Wobegon'

A squirrel died in Bunsen's air conditioning. GK is planning his vacation in Europe. He is afraid of losing his money. GK went to Bloomington and dedicated a prairie restoration center. He didn't know anything about the center except the birch trees. So he talked about not knowing anything about nature. The center used to be a farm. It's now an island of prairie surrounded by lawns that are mowed every week, a tribute to imagination. A girl in the parking lot asked him if he ever told stories about magic. He realized that she didn't know who he was. He was reminded of, Muriel, a very quiet girl in his class who had rheumatic fever. Fred, her father, ran away from his marriage when his list of things to do had 33 items on it. One day she had a dream about a pig who asked her to play the piano. The pig danced for her. She felt that this was an omen. She read a scripture verse that told her to go into the camp. She climbed the hill to visit the camp on the hill. She felt that she would get a message from God. Finally she had to settle for a shaft of sunlight. She feels that something wonderful is about to happen.

Other mentions/discussions during the show

The Whippets needed both games of the doubleheader. They won the first game 6-3 with Lefty. In the second game, they were ahead 9-8 in the 8th. In the bottom of the 9th. Albany loaded the bases with two out. Ronnie missed a long fly when his dog ran between his legs. A tough way to end the season.
