'The News from Lake Wobegon'

It's fine and warm but realists remembering last year's blizzard made children dress warmly. Parkas lie in the grass as the children rebel. Kids hang around in groups using words like 'gross'. GK wanted to join but the group decided he was unacceptable. A brown station wagon parked in front of the Chatterbox. Five Vietnamese came in and ordered salads, rice and beans. Everyone stared at them surreptitiously. The young man asked Wayne Tollefsen to help start the car. Wayne is leery of giving favors but he tried to help. The key wouldn't turn. The five people were very quiet. They were scared when Wayne said it might cost something. The young man had only $17.70. Ernie at Bunsen Motors might charge them an arm and a leg. After turning the steering wheel, it finally started. Everyone thanked Wayne.
