'The News from Lake Wobegon'

Skiing with the incredible woman. / LW is under 3 feet of snow. Only the Sidetrack Tap is open. The lamp over the front door casts a cone of light. It's so silent and sound travels on a cold night. The skating rink on LW is a riot of light and sound. 15-year old GK met a mysterious 18-year old woman in the warming house. It was an erotic place back in the age of imagination before the age of full disclosure. The Lover's Run was a path out to the middle of the lake. If the girl won the race, she got to kiss you. Older guys like Clarence Bunsen can still impersonate gracefulness on skates. If you can skate in tandem, you might as well get married. She sat next to GK and removed her socks. She said, 'Hi' and asked him for a cigarette. He smoked his first cigarette and got a bit sick. He agreed to go skiing even though he couldn't ski. He turned down the beginner's hill and felt love and terror at the same time. He took the chair lift to the top. He admitted he did not know how to ski. She said, 'Follow me.' He knew would live 60 years in the minute and a half. He sat down a lot in the next few minutes.
