'The News from Lake Wobegon'

LW grade school reunion. We had few ambitions so we don't have to brag about success. LW' phones were dead because Elizabeth' nephew, Wendel, stepped on the line into her house. Elizabeth is crucial because people call her instead of dialing. She listens in on calls and corrects facts. Miss Berge, the teacher, is having a torrid romance with a young violinist and she was seen drinking a gin fizz in a road house. They have been telling lies about her for years. LW's sinners were never really up to snuff. Judy Bunsen's first baby wasn't completely into wedlock, but he was as normal as the next two. GK's real mother was Donna La Donna, a carnival tightrope walker. He was born while she was walking a tightrope, stretched across the Mississippi. GK was left on the Keillor's doorstep, with a note and a pencil. He still has that pencil.

Other mentions/discussions during the show

rebroadcast on August 27, 1988 and August 18, 1990. / 1983.08.27 Berkshire Eagle / 1983.08.21 Star Tribune / Frank Berto believes this may be the August 6 broadcast, not Aug 27. "Sliker and I both have this tape. It was rebroadcast on August 27, 1988 and August 18, 1990. (My first date of August 27, 1983 was wrong.)"
