'The News from Lake Wobegon'

Most of the snow melted. Ralph got in a new load of frozen cod. He had to throw out a lot of the old stuff. Ralph is worried because people are shopping at the supermarkets in St. Cloud. His sister served swordfish, which she did not buy from Ralph. LW is not a hot spring of free enterprise. It is really socialism operating on group loyalty. You buy from your friends. The profit margin is very thin. You could probably find something better somewhere else. Helen Inkvuist does not sing "Holy City" to show off her voice. She wants the other sopranos to sound good. When Pastor Inkvuist went on vacation, the young replacement pastor gave a very long sermon until the ushers cut him off. You help someone with sheep shearing and the sheep are laughing at you. You want to tell them that you went to college. Ray Skoglund had a gift for blowing smoke rings, but everybody had seen them. He played rough jokes so women didn't like him. He double-dated with GK one·night. He was blowing smoke rings for his date. Love is the greatest gift. An old married couple remembers what made them attractive to each other.
