'The News from Lake Wobegon'

The LW Herald Star showed a picture of the wedding of of James Tollefsen Jr. on the front page. He married Elizabeth Inkvuist. GK realized that he went to school with the groom's father. James Tollefsen Sr. married Nancy Hansen. GK used to date Nancy. One night, GK made a devastating comment about her parents. Nancy decided that GK was cynical and broke up with him. GK remembers the high school play about a pioneer family. He and Nancy tried out for the lead parts. GK decided that the lead's lines about 'Oh Lizzie' were just too dumb. Nancy got the part of Lizzie. James Tollefsen got the part of Eban. GK was part of the stage crew that worked the grasshoppers on fishing lines. James was in love in with Nancy. They have been married for 21 years. / Weddings were happening and looking at a photo of the Jimmy Tollefson wedding, GK realized that the person he went to school with was the father not the son. and the mother was also someone he dated. Turns out they probably met after GK didn't try out for a play and the part eventually went to Jimmy.

Other mentions/discussions during the show

Letter from Jack says that GK should be quiet and let Butch play. The First Inkvuist Bank is the main bank in LW. Bob's Bank is the competition. Story of the Carter family and Jeanette Carter. Charlie McGuire's new baby. GK reads a Margaret Haskins Durber poem about cursing.
