'The News from Lake Wobegon'

Brother Bob of the Sanctified Brethren preached fierce gospel in a tabernacle tent. He could look at 5000 people and make each one feel guilty. He believed that Catholicism was the work of the devil and Lutheranism was what the devil did in his spare time. GK and four 16-year old friends drove to St. Cloud and rented a motel room hoping to pick up girls at the roller rink. They broke the motel sink chopping at a block of ice. They weren't arrested because one of their dads belonged to the good old boy network. Now we are so self righteous so that President Clinton is in trouble over an indecent proposal. At the revival, GK was in Brother Bob's arms and smelled beer on his breath.
