Bruno, the fishing dog spent two months in LW with Lena Johnson. Bob Johnson's wife, Merlette, and Lena don't get along. Bob Johnson is a great success and he's always giving Lena advice. When Lena fell and broke her wrist, Bob told her that she should sell the house and move to a retirement home. To show them that she was fit, she cooked up a storm and broke her wrist a second time. Bruno is 14 years old. When he was a year old, he caught a six-pound walleye by batting it out of the water. Whenever Bob visits LW, Bruno spends all day in the lake fishing. Occasionally he catches a blue gill or a bull head but he throws them back. Last year, he caught a big walleye but he didn't bring it far enough onto dry land and it flopped back into the lake. Lena took Bruno back to The City with her when she drove in for the christening of Bob and Merlette's latest baby. She was late for the ceremony and late getting to the reception. Lena went to the kitchen but the two caterers didn't need any help. They put Lena's cherry jello into the refrigerator. There was a ton of catered food on the table including a huge smoked trout. Everybody was talking loud and there was no place to sit down. Lena let Bruno in and he saw the smoked trout. He leaped onto the table to grab the trout. He skidded the length of the table, grabbed the trout and ran outside. Lena took charge and cleaned up the mess. Then she came back with the cherry jello.
History of Red Wing. Watching a tow of eight barges go around the bend. LW Whippets won four straight. Then they lost to Albany. The Whippets were down 24 to 2 in the third inning. Merle had six errors and the record from 1896 was seven.
