Download this week's News from Lake Wobegon Notes from Jenn Miori Hodges of The Carper Family about this weekend's rebroadcast: I'll never forget the sight of Garrison Keillor, seconds after meeting us at rehearsal the day before the show, scribbling down lyrics to jingles he was writing on the spot and handing us the piece of paper. He asked us -- being a harmony trio -- if we could write the music to the lyrics for the show, and we did so that night in the hotel bar! We had so much fun with those -- I still get them in my head sometimes, especially the one for Rhubarb. The best thing about being part of the show was witnessing how everything seemed to come together almost impossibly at the very last minute, like magic. It was like taking a trip to Disneyland for us because we are all big public radio fans.
