"A pleasant evening in Bend, OR last night, with a full house at the Tower theater including youngsters in their forties and they laughed at all the jokes, bing bam boom, and during intermission they sang "America" and "Beautiful Brown Eyes" and "Saw Her Standing There" and "How Great Thou Art," even Unitarians joined in. I lost my bass notes on the gospel numbers with Robin and Linda and squeaks came out so I had tto switch to alto, but all went well. I told people that I turn 80 in August, probably a mistake (telling them, that is) and the front row watched me with trepidation afterwards, but I didn't trip, didn't stumble, and the show came in at two hours, and we all went home."
