'The News from Lake Wobegon'

Strange warm winter. Fr. Emil crawled out of his sick bed and saw bright-colored bird sitting on the feeder. They're deadsters. Everybody knows we're going to get winter. The NBFs wearing their parkas watch the towns people in their shirt sleeves. Clifford is trying to boost business. LW has been declining since the Civil War. Clifford is thinking about a tanning parlor. He and Clarence argued about tanning. People feel like the car sitting the middle of LW. The ice fishing season is nearly over. People are worrying about the thickness of the ice. They tell stories about Mr. Paisley a young angry single sardonic English teacher. He couldn't catch fish. He used a stick of dynamite to murder the fish. He lit the fuse and threw the stick of dynamite down the hole without the lead weight. He blew a 40-foot hole in the ice and left the next day. The miss him because he made a good story.
