'The News from Lake Wobegon'

Mosquitoes are a Lake Wobegon heritage dating back to when Adam and Eve lived in the St Croix Valley. Father Emil was late planting his onions because he did not expect to be around to harvest them. Father Wilmer took his 37 days of accrued vacation and headed for San Francisco. Myrtle Krebsbach and Sr. Arvanne were preparing for the Martha Society picnic. Myrtle swears all of the time. Florian never swears. Myrtle wants to move to a senior's high rise to get away from the mosquitoes. When Myrtle's mother died, Myrtle's sister, Beatrice, chose the crystal vase. Myrtle clubbed her and they never spoke to each other again. Florian goes to auctions and buys old machinery. He has increased the size of his flock of ducks. He tells jokes to the ducks and throws them popcorn. Father Emil and Senator K Thorvaldson discuss Father Emil's retirement and Senator K's proposed marriage. Joke about the divorce of the old couple who had been married for 70 years.
