'The News from Lake Wobegon' (full transcription)

It's been a quiet week in Lake Wobegon, Minnesota, and I think I'm going to leave it at that tonight. Partly because we're running short on time and also because it's been unusually quiet, there isn't very much say about it. Sometimes the pulse of life gets real slow up in the little town that time forgot. It gets so slow as to cause alarm amongst the people who live there. And then have to go and get a mirror and hold it up to their mouths and make sure there's still life and breath. And then why of course, if they don't see it- I don't know what happens. But if they do see it, it kind of excites them and they go off and do stuff, and I imagine that next week there'd be a lot to report on. So more about that next week. From the little town where all the women are strong and all the men are good looking and all the children are above average.
