'The News from Lake Wobegon'

Voting on election day in L W. Better-than-sex cake at the Chatterbox Cafe. Sign says, "Bloom where you are planted." Innocent people really enjoy dirty jokes. Art's dog, Pal, does his tricks with GK's meat loaf. People in LW are pessimists and skeptics. GK is a romantic. A beautiful girl has a hard time growing up in LW. People believe in, 'Not that bad.' People buy everything cheap except farm machinery or breeding cattle. Election via the Electoral College. Waiting for the election results in the Sidetrack Tap, where the Democrats hang out. Wally, the Republican bartender, waits for his chance, then tells his joke about the Democrat husband telling his wife how wonderful sex was going to be.
